Biography
Randy Stonehill, recognized as a pioneering Christian rocker, first took up guitar at the age of ten and captured top honors in a San Jose, California talent competition open to local residents just three years later. His initial long-player, Born Twice, appeared toward the close of 1971, while a 1973 project titled Get Me Out of Hollywood remained unreleased; Welcome to Paradise, his earliest major album, arrived in 1976. Following a four-year recording break, he returned with The Sky Is Falling, marking the end of his longstanding partnership with producer Larry Norman, and then delivered Between the Glory and the Flame a year afterward as his debut on the Myrrh label. Already established as one of CCM’s elder statesmen, Stonehill reached peak output in the mid-’80s by releasing at least one album each year from 1983 through 1986; after issuing Can’t Buy a Miracle in 1988 he turned to the following year’s Return to Paradise, the much-anticipated follow-up to his breakthrough work. The Lazarus Heart, released in 1994, marked the launch of his own imprint, Street Level Records.
