Pop/R&B vocalist, composer, beatmaker, and multi-instrumentalist Sam Romans devoted close to ten years crafting and shaping material for vocalists such as Mary J. Blige and John Legend prior to stepping forward under the moniker RØMANS. Possessing a naturally warm timbre and wide vocal span while drawing from hip-hop and dance elements yet staying rooted in polished, soul-infused pop, he introduced himself in 2015 via the EP Overthinking, Pt. 1. Later EPs featured guest spots from rap talents including Rejjie Snow and Avelino.

Brought up in Pinner within Greater London, Romans was immersed from childhood in music by a mother whose tastes encompassed David Bowie and Elton John. Coming of age amid the rise of digital tools, he mastered music construction chiefly on a laptop and exited school in his mid-teens to chase a professional path. Following years of behind-the-scenes industry work, he gained notice through performances in London and subsequently New York and Hollywood, which paved the way to his appearance on Naughty Boy’s 2014 single “Home.” That track registered on the U.K. charts and secured a Roc Nation contract. RØMANS issued his debut EP, Overthinking, Pt. 1, on the imprint in mid-2015. Before year’s end he delivered the Act I EP, then unveiled his third project, Silence, in March 2016. Remaining on Roc Nation, he released Automatic in 2017 and followed in 2018 with a series of tracks grouped under the heading People.
