Under the name Amtrac, Kentucky native Caleb Cornett crafts lush yet wistful deep house. Early work centered on his own vocals within melancholy, indie-leaning dance-pop; the three-song Why? EP marked his 2010 debut and preceded the 2011 full-length Came Along. Breakthrough visibility came through remixes for fellow artists, above all a 2013 take on Kaskade's "Atmosphere" that secured opening slots across several dates of the producer's national tour. Festival bills such as Movement in Detroit and Ultra Music Festival followed, as did co-headlining runs with Kygo and Kastle. Further remixes touched material by Two Door Cinema Club, Ellie Goulding, Zhu, and many others. Amtrac's own output grew more hypnotic, foregrounding disco and house influences; self-sung vocals receded in favor of instrumentals or samples from soul legends like Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Releases began appearing on Mark Knight's Toolroom Records in 2014, with subsequent material issued via W&O Street Tracks, Openers, and Birds That Fly.
