Biography
Ryan Beaver delivers contemporary country songs infused with a guitar-driven rock sensibility, having first gained traction as a singer and songwriter after rising through the Western "Red Dirt" scene and cultivating an expanding audience across Texas and Oklahoma. Born March 17, 1984, in Emory, Texas, he endured childhood asthma and allergies that kept him indoors, where he immersed himself in his father's extensive record collection featuring Texas singer/songwriters such as Guy Clark, folk-rock figures including Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne, and foundational roots-rock bands like the Band. Combined with his mother's abilities as a pianist and his father's musical passion, these circumstances positioned Beaver toward a life of performing and composing; when he started guitar lessons, his teacher recognized sufficient talent to invite the student to open one of his shows. Though dissatisfied with that initial onstage experience, Beaver responded by committing to greater effort. Upon completing high school he attended Texas State University in San Marcos, where he invested increasing energy in music and songcraft before relocating to Austin, the songwriter-centric city located roughly forty minutes away. His debut album, Under the Neons, appeared in 2008 under the production of David Grissom and generated regional airplay for the tracks "I Shoulda Kissed You," "Streets of Austin," and the title song. Three years later he issued his sophomore effort, Constant, which featured the track "Hate" that climbed to number two on the Texas music charts. His growing reputation as a songwriter next drew him to Nashville, where he collaborated with emerging artists such as Rob Baird and Kyle Park, both of whom recorded his material, and secured a publishing agreement with HoriPro Entertainment Group. In October 2015 Beaver released the single "Dark" to preview his third album, Rx, which arrived during the summer of 2016.
