Biography
Scar the Martyr originated in 2013 when Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison launched the outfit as a side project, enlisting lead guitarists Jed Simon of Strapping Young Lad and Kris Norris from Darkest Hour along with keyboard player Matthew Tarach, bassist Kyle Konkiel, and vocalist Henry Derek. The group crafts an aggressive, melody-driven fusion of post-grunge and alternative metal that recalls Alice in Chains and Neurosis. Roadrunner Records put out the band's self-titled debut album in September 2013. Jordison declared the act's breakup in May 2016, after which he joined Norris, Simon, Konkiel, and Tarach to create the new band VIMIC.
