Hailing from Orange County, California, metalcore unit Scars of Tomorrow formed in October 2000 and delivered a West Coast interpretation of East Coast hardcore marked by melodic passages amid aggressive textures. Their first outing arrived in 2002 via Thorp Records with All Things Change, followed the next March by Design Your Fate. After that release, guitarist Ruben Martinez and drummer Mike Madariaga departed, leaving vocalist Mike Milford, guitarist Carlos Garcia, and bassist Robert Bradley to bring in Chris Warner on drums and Dave Rodriguez on guitar; the revised lineup secured a deal with Victory in May 2003. Their Victory debut, Rope Tied to the Trigger, surfaced the subsequent February. Multiple North American treks alongside Himsa, Atreyu, and Norma Jean preceded the October 2005 issuance of The Horror of Realization, which the band supported on the road with Bury Your Dead. Roughly two weeks before that tour commenced, all members except Milford exited. Undaunted, he assembled guitarists Joey Atkins and Kevin Fifield, bassist Dan Bieranowski, and drummer Ryan Severino, allowing the schedule to proceed uninterrupted. Thorp Records followed with the March release of The Beginning Of, a compilation gathering early and previously unavailable tracks. Subsequent personnel shifts placed Justin Salinas, formerly of Inked in Blood, behind the kit and added bassist Mike Boccuzzi, leading to the Halloween 2006 appearance of studio album The Failure in Drowning. That effort marked the group’s final recording. After a spring tour, the remaining members chose to disband and pursue separate paths. Scars of Tomorrow concluded their run with a final performance in May 2007.
