Biography
Originally established in Philadelphia during 1999, A Life Once Lost entered an expanding circle of metalcore acts—including Converge, God Forbid, and Killswitch Engage—concentrated along the Eastern Seaboard. In the ensuing period these ensembles collectively shaped the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. The lineup comprised vocalist Robert Meadows, guitarists Robert Carpenter and Douglas Sabolick, bassist Nick Frasca, and drummer Justin Graves. Their early output encompassed the 2000 LP Open Your Mouth for the Speechless..., followed in 2003 by the full-length A Great Artist and the EP The Fourth Plague: Flies. These two 2003 releases secured touring opportunities alongside Throwdown, Breather Resist, Dead to Fall, and additional acts while drawing notice from Nora’s Carl Severson. He ultimately placed the band on Ferret Music, which issued the 2005 LP Hunter.
