Screwball

Originating from the public housing projects of Queensbridge, NY, the hardcore rap quartet Screwball comprises four frenetic, energetic, and poetic artists who perform under the stage names Poet, Solo, KL, and Hostyle. Throughout the late '80s the members pursued both solo and joint performances and recordings, with Poet serving as one half of the duo PHD and Solo and KL working as Kamakazee. Their debut release as Screwball arrived with Set It, tracked in 1993 and produced by Poet. After several guest appearances on underground and independent recordings, the group delivered its major-label debut, Y2K, in 1999. Loyalty followed two years later.
