Seasons After emerged from Wichita, Kansas as a melodic alternative metal act citing Iron Maiden and Faith No More among its key influences. The lineup came together in 2006 around singer Chris Schlichting, guitarists Chris Dawson and Steve Frank, bassist Michael Byers, and drummer Tim Rails, leading to the independent release of the debut album Through Tomorrow in 2008. The following year the quintet inked a deal with Warner Music Group, at which point Jim Beattie took over lead guitar duties from Frank. An official label version of Through Tomorrow arrived in spring 2010, after which the group’s cover of Gerard McMann’s “Cry Little Sister,” originally featured in the 1987 film The Lost Boys, attracted attention and entered Billboard’s rock songs charts. Schlichting’s sudden exit soon followed amid the rising profile, with Tony Housh stepping in as the new vocalist. Years of inactivity ensued due to legal disputes with the label, until the band surfaced again in fall 2014 with the self-released second LP Calamity Scars & Memoirs, a reflective collection that introduced Jesse Saint (Emphatic) on bass in place of Byers. The album’s single “Weathered and Worn” returned Seasons After to the rock charts in 2015.
