Biography
Emerging from Canada in the alt-rock sphere, Sights & Sounds took shape as a post-hardcore outfit drawing from punk and emo traditions, unveiling their self-titled debut EP in 2007. After two subsequent releases and a six-year recording hiatus, the band broadened their sonic palette by integrating extra instrumentation and electronic textures on the second full-length effort, No Virtue, which surfaced in 2019.
The 2007 Sights & Sounds EP featured the core lineup of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid), drummer Joel Neufeld (Sick City), guitarist Adrian Mottram, and bassist Matthew Howes, who then tracked the group's first full-length album under producer Devin Townsend. Released in 2009 under the title Monolith, the record coincided with tours alongside Bring Me the Horizon, Billy Talent, and Architects; during this period the band formally welcomed keyboardist Dave Grabowski and issued the Silver Door EP via Pure Noise in 2013.
Prior to the arrival of their second album, No Virtue, in 2019, Mottram exited Sights & Sounds. The independently released set, issued through a partnership with Static Era Records, wove electronic components into the ensemble's already intricate approach.
