Skapulario

Skapulario has guided Puerto Rico’s unexpectedly productive ska scene ever since the group’s first recordings appeared in 1991. Although Resistencia reached listeners earlier, Skapulario soon outpaced every local rival by combining familiar covers with concise, sharply arranged originals. The band also issued the first compact disc ever released by a Puerto Rican ska act, the 1994 album Vida en Espiral, whose tracks “Duerme a Tu Hermanito” and “La Fiesta Ska” became radio favorites. When lead singer Ferdi exited in 1996 to launch a big-band ska project, keyboardist and principal songwriter David assumed vocal duties with immediate assurance. The self-titled album issued in 1998 became the first Skapulario release to reach continental America.
