Snakadaktal

Snakadaktal, the alliterative Melbourne quintet whose sound merged chillwave textures with shimmery dream pop and dancefloor-ready indie electronic, positioned itself between the xx’s icy minimalist pop and the vivid hedonism of fellow Australians Empire of the Sun, thanks to its boy-girl vocal interplay and offbeat conceptual touches. The group coalesced in 2010 around Phoebe Cockburn on vocals and synthesizers, Sean Heathcliff on vocals, guitar, and synthesizers, guitarist Joseph Clough, bassist Jarrah McCarty-Smith, and drummer Barna Nemeth. In 2011 the band released its self-titled debut EP via the Australian indie imprint I Oh You. Its first full-length for the label, Sleep in the Water, appeared in 2013; although the album garnered praise both at home and internationally, the members chose to disband. The following year saw the release of the posthumous collection Treasures (2010-2014), which gathered demos and previously unheard tracks.
