Supervision

Rapper Supervision entered the world on June 24, 1977, in New Orleans under the name Damin Bordenave before his childhood unfolded in Los Angeles. An errant bottle struck his eye at five, sending him to the hospital where pink eye set in and progressed into glaucoma. Repeated eye operations proved insufficient to avert total blindness across both eyes. At eleven he took the name Supervision, started rapping, and assembled his initial group, B-Force, alongside fellow attendees of the Braille Institute. Three years afterward he issued his debut recording, the four-track EP Blind Styles. He soon ranked among the West Coast’s leading battle rappers, entering numerous contests and opening for artists such as Mystikal and Xzibit. In 2000 he inked a deal with Capitol Records and launched Vision Intertainment, whose divisions span a record label, management, sportswear, and security. The full-length major-label debut 20/20 appeared in August 2001 after he joined the summer edition of the Seagram’s Gin Live Tour, sharing stages with Mystikal, Jagged Edge, Jaheim, and others.
