Taragana Pyjarama serves as the recording name for producer Nick Kold Eriksen, who is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and who previously issued material under the Eim Ick moniker. Following that initial outing, Eriksen adopted the Taragana Pyjarama alias and, drawing influence from Four Tet and James Holden, refined a brightly colored and layered style of electronic music. Intended chiefly for home listening yet punctuated by occasional club-friendly moments, his debut under the new name arrived as a five-track EP on the French imprint Fool House in April 2011. The intricate, melodic character of cuts such as "Girls" and "Ocean" gave little indication that Eriksen had earlier stepped away from formal music training. Michael Mayer, struck by the EP, subsequently brought the producer aboard the Kompakt label. Tipped Bowls, a concise full-length that moved between beat-less ambient passages and dancefloor-oriented pieces, appeared in June 2012.
