Blending actual experiences with invented storylines, the Naked Brothers Band originated as a preschool project from brothers Nat and Alex Wolff. Their mother, writer/director Polly Draper, converted those escapades into the 2005 film The Naked Brothers Band, which then prompted the 2007 Nickelodeon series sharing the same name. Nat Wolff handled vocals and songwriting for the group at just 11 years old when the program debuted, while Alex, eight at the time, played drums. The series added keyboardist David Levi, guitarist Qaasim Middleton, bassist Rosalina, and manager Cooper Pilot to complete the lineup. The movie instead featured the Wolff brothers and Levi alongside Joshua Kaye and Thomas Batuello. Both versions spotlighted the children's knack for 21st century bubblegum pop through numbers such as "Crazy Car" and "If That's Not Love." The series delivered Nickelodeon's strongest debut ratings in seven years. The self-titled debut album surfaced late in 2007, with I Don't Want to Go to School following in 2008.
