Biography
Jump5 arrived on the Christian pop landscape in 2001, delivering expansive choruses, energetic compositions, and an outlook suited to family audiences. The five adolescents had not yet reached driving age, yet their spirited outlook and unpolished charm offered parents a wholesome counterpoint to the increasingly suggestive teen pop then prevalent elsewhere. Unlike the manufactured acts that saturated commercial radio from the close of the 1990s, the group’s beginnings lay in a shared dance class attended by siblings Brandon and Brittany Hargest and Lesley Moore. Still only toddlers, the three quickly became close through matching interests and skills. Libby Hodges and Chris Fedun later expanded the circle, prompting the members to explore pop music.
With backing from their families and Sparrow Records, they crafted a dance routine and were supplied with bright, upbeat pop material. After their debut appeared, they performed across schools, malls, and amphitheaters nationwide, conveying an optimistic message to audiences of children, teenagers, and adults. A White House visit raised their profile further, and a benefit cover of “God Bless the U.S.A.” surfaced as a single following the events of September 11, 2001. During 2002 they recorded All the Time in the World and issued it that summer under an expansive promotional push. Arrangements with McDonalds and Disney supplied additional visibility, while a tour alongside A*Teens, Aaron Carter, and the Baha Men occupied them through the season. Dreaming in Color arrived in 2004, and 2005 brought both the Very Best of Jump5 compilation and the fresh album Shining Star. Their final project, Hello & Goodbye, reached stores in 2007 three months ahead of the group’s last performance in Nashville.
