Nicole Mullen, a Nashville-based singer/songwriter, minister, and choreographer, supplied vocals for Michael W. Smith, wrote material for Jaci Velasquez, and served as dancer and choreographer for Amy Grant on the Heart in Motion tour. Her debut album, Wish Me Love, came out in 1992. The song “On My Knees,” which she co-wrote for Velasquez, earned the 1998 GMA Song of the Year award. Her self-titled 2000 album highlighted her singular songwriting style, fusing R&B, folk, gospel, and pop into the sound she labeled “funkabilly.” Talk About It followed in 2001 and delivered two Dove Awards, one for Song of the Year with “Redeemer” and another for Female Vocalist of the Year. Everyday People, released in 2004, brought a further Dove win for Urban Album of the Year. Sharecropper's Seed, Vol. 1 appeared in 2007, followed by Dream to Believe in, Vol. 2 in 2008. In 2011 she issued the Ed Cash-produced Captivated and received induction into the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
