Crystal Lewis

Crystal Lewis emerged within CCM circles through her role in the cast of the youth musical Hi-Tops, then took the lead in the rockabilly gospel outfit Wild Blue Yonder. She later pursued an independent path, releasing multiple albums that failed to register commercially until her breakthrough arrived via the 1996 Myrrh Records project Beauty for Ashes. That record yielded three number-one singles on the contemporary Christian charts, including the track “People Get Ready (Jesus Is Comin’),” which earned Song of the Year honors from both CCM and CRR. Gold appeared in 1998, after which Lewis issued a pair of albums in 2000: the rock-leaning Fearless and the holiday collection Holiday.
