Emerging under the name TOMI in 2017, singer/songwriter Pam Autuori—who had previously comprised one half of the Brooklyn-based duo XNY—debuted with the single “Carry You,” a dramatic pop ballad about a relationship nearing its end. Guy Connelly (the Fallout Trust, the Corrections, Clock Opera) produced the track, which major-label RCA issued in April 2017. More singles, including “Alien” and “Hideaway,” surfaced across the remainder of the year ahead of her first EP, Used To. TOMI followed the same pattern in 2018, releasing “Every Morning I Feel Like Running Away” and “Coming Around” to precede the next EP, What Kind of Love.
