Biography
Crafted within the tech-trance domain, the percussive and distorted sound of Transa originated from Dave Webster and Brenden Webster, yet stayed largely overlooked by mainstream listeners. Anthemic late-'90s tracks such as "Prophase," "Behind the Sun," and "Astro Dawn" earned favor from Paul Oakenfold along with Sasha & Digweed, though wider notice arrived chiefly via exploitative remixes the duo supplied to Art of Trance, Blank & Jones, Vengaboys, and Alice Deejay. That pattern prompted an early mid-life crisis by 2001. Singles including "Rotation" and the Exposure, Pt. 3 mix shifted focus toward the psychological struggles inherent in progressive house rather than whistle-blowing excess, while the pair declined further remix commissions at every opportunity. Work on their debut album commenced the same year, leaving those familiar with the duo uncertain whether prior trajectory pointed toward chart success or continued obscurity within mass culture's margins.
