Biography
British duo Two Shell fuse U.K. garage, post-dubstep, and techno, frequently deploying semi-obscured vocal samples across their polished, club-ready productions. Their debut came via the Bristol imprint Livity Sound on the 2019 EP Access, after which they shifted toward brighter, more rave-oriented material on later outings that included the 2021 single “Home” plus the EPs Icons (2022) and lil spirits (2023).
Emerging anonymously from London at the close of 2019, the pair first appeared with Access, a Livity Sound release steeped in future garage and broken beat. In 2020 they established the Mainframe Audio label, beginning with the white-label 12-inch N35 and continuing with the four-track EP Touchpad. By year’s end they delivered the mix IMPACT21, which roamed across dancehall, jungle, big beat, and additional styles. A follow-up Livity Sound EP, SoulCity, surfaced in 2021, and the duo placed the track “Big Style” on the compilation Molten Mirrors: A Decade of Livity Sound. They also released the playful, Alicia Keys-sampling big-beat throwback “Wedding Practice” and the euphoric “Home,” both initially as white labels. Momentum around “Home” prompted a full digital release in early 2022, after which Icons arrived that June and lil spirits followed in 2023.
