Emerging from Los Angeles' Heavyweights Crew alongside Freestyle Fellowship, Medusa, and Ganjah K, Volume 10 participated in the West Coast's thriving underground rap movement throughout the 1990s. While refining his abilities through competitive appearances at the Good Life Cafe in common with many other Los Angeles MCs, he distinguished himself by merging thuggish violent imagery with technically demanding open mike techniques. Following a guest appearance on Freestyle Fellowship's Inner City Griots in 1993, he issued his first full-length album, Hip-Hopera. That release produced the hit single Pistol Grip Pump, which Rage Against the Machine later covered on their album Renegades. Volume 10 also featured on the Project Blowed compilation in 1995, widely regarded as one of the underground's landmark releases. His second solo CD, Psycho, arrived in 2000 via his own Pump Productions.
