Emerging at the forefront of the bitpop movement built on Commodore 64 SID-chip foundations, Welle: Erdball (aka W:E) took shape under lyricist, programmer, and vocalist Honey—otherwise known as Dr. Georg Linde within the side project Das Präparat—alongside programmer and keyboardist A.L.F., who performed as Professor Sternau in the same venture. Operating chiefly as a duo supported by a constantly shifting roster of percussionists, the ensemble issued numerous demos, singles, and EPs across more than a decade, opening with 1993’s Nyntändo-Shock and extending through Horizonterweiterungen in 2004. Their debut full-length, Alles Ist Möglich, surfaced in 1995. Beyond Welle: Erdball, Honey and A.L.F. both contributed to Das Präparat, while Honey additionally participated in Homo:Futura. The project returned in 2006 with its fifth studio album, Chaos Total.
