South Korean singer Whee In rose to worldwide prominence through her membership in K-pop quartet Mamamoo before carving out an independent path in the 2020s with emotionally charged tracks featured on the mini-albums Redd (2020) and WHEE (2021).

Jung Whee-in was born in Jeollabuk Province, South Korea, and discovered her vocation when she joined Mamamoo, the four-member K-pop group assembled by RBW in 2014. As a versatile and highly skilled vocalist, she became essential to the ensemble’s achievements across the 2010s, beginning with their debut mini-album Hello and contributing to multiple chart-topping EPs such as Yellow Flower and White Wind, plus the number-two and number-one peaks attained by the Korean studio albums Melting and Reality in Black. The group’s retro-tinged aesthetic resonated strongly beyond Korea, yielding three full-length studio albums, 11 mini-albums plus two Japanese editions, and a steady succession of singles that reached the Top Ten.

Even while active with Mamamoo, Whee In explored solo opportunities, experiencing growing acclaim through the 2018 release “Easy,” the number-three hit “Good Bye” in 2019, and her first single album Soar, which entered the Gaon chart at number four. Blending funk-driven anthems, introspective singer/songwriter material, and melodic trap-pop hybrids, she delivered her debut mini-album Redd, which peaked at number seven, in 2021. Soon afterward she declared she would cease group promotions after 2023 and signed with Ravi’s The L1ve imprint, making her label debut in January 2022 with the second mini-album WHEE.
