Biography
Formed in 2004 in Chillicothe, Ohio, the progressive death metal quintet Woe of Tyrants came together through vocalist Chris Catanzaro, bassist Shaun Gunter, drummer Johnny Roberts, and guitarists Matt Kincaid and Nick Dozer. Their approach merged late-'80s thrash elements drawn from Testament and Dark Angel with contemporary Scandinavian death metal as heard from Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom. The 2007 debut Behold the Lion earned the group a multi-album agreement with Metal Blade Records, which issued the 2009 follow-up Kingdom of Might and the 2010 release Threnody.
