Biography
Zombie Girl represents the electronic industrial dance endeavor helmed by Renee Cooper. Launched in Canada during 2005 alongside her initial producer Sebastian Komor, the project drew from the exaggerated gore and camp of B-movie horror tropes combined with intense pulses of goth-infused rave energy, echoing the approach of God Module. The first album, Back from the Dead, appeared in 2006. The follow-up, Blood, Brains & Rock 'n' Roll, arrived the subsequent year and included provocative cover imagery that incorporated the very organic substances referenced in its title. Once Komor exited, Cooper continued alone, incorporating live musicians on every subsequent recording. More than five years elapsed after the Halloween EP of 2009 before her next complete album arrived with 2015's Killer Queen, which explored a comparably shadowy yet increasingly sensual dimension in the sound.
