Hailing from Starkville, Mississippi, singer and songwriter Al Denson issued his self-titled debut album in 1989. That effort was succeeded by Be the One in 1990, The Extra Mile in 1992, and Reasons in 1993. Throughout those years his itinerary encompassed tours alongside Dawson McAlister, appearances with the Billy and Franklin Graham crusades, and duties as host for Youth for Christ’s Congress on Youth Evangelism.

A plane crash outside San Antonio, Texas, in December 1994 proved nearly fatal; friend Grant Milner perished, while Denson sustained facial injuries requiring almost 500 stitches along with several operations to mend shattered bones. Despite the trauma he resumed flying two and a half months later, yet the incident prompted a profound reassessment of his priorities and a renewed recognition of his complete reliance on God.

His fifth album, Take Me to the Cross, appeared in 1995. Two further projects, Reunion Praise and Tabula Rasa, followed in 1998, then From This Day On and Awakening the Heart of Worship arrived in 2000. Denson has also served as host of the television programs Studio 828 and The Al Denson Show, while his live performances since 1997 have centered on school assemblies devoted to character development.
