Biography
Born two weeks after his adoption, singer/songwriter Mark Schultz spent his childhood in Colby, KS. Track and football brought him notable high-school athletic achievements, yet his musical abilities proved stronger than his sports prowess. He relocated to Nashville with hopes of breaking into the music industry, only to find himself working in youth ministry instead. Serving as youth leader at First Presbyterian Church prompted him to compose songs drawn from the lives of congregation members. Audiences filled weekly concerts that showcased his performances. Building on that momentum, he arranged a benefit show at the Ryman Auditorium; those efforts led to a contract with Myrrh Records and the 2000 release of his self-titled debut album.
