Biography
Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, Brandon Heath would later earn recognition as a Grammy-nominated contemporary Christian performer. A Christmas gift of a guitar at age thirteen ignited his songwriting, which he pursued alongside participation in his school choir. Faith took hold three years later following a transformative stay at a Young Life camp, where he eventually returned as a leader. At the same time he logged countless hours at the Bluebird Café, Nashville’s renowned proving ground for songwriters, sharpening his craft, and embarked on faith-based missions to India and Ecuador that foreshadowed the fusion of belief and melody in his work.
Theft of his guitar in spring 2000 prompted him to record and sell a demo CD to finance a replacement; that collection surfaced commercially in 2004 as Early Stuff and first presented his soaring, impassioned tenor to listeners. Producer Chris Davis joined him on the follow-up Soldier, likewise issued in 2004. A contract with Reunion Records yielded the official debut Don’t Get Comfortable in fall 2006. The album thrived on Christian radio, sending “I’m Not Who I Was” to number one and placing two further tracks inside the Top 20. Heath collected multiple Dove Award nominations and captured the prize for Best New Artist. His 2008 release What If We earned a 2009 Grammy nomination for Best Pop Gospel Album.
Leaving Eden, issued in 2011, secured another Grammy nomination in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category. Blue Mountain followed in 2012 and reached number nine on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. The holiday project Christmas Is Here appeared in 2013. In 2017 Heath issued his sixth studio album, Faith, Hope, Love, Repeat, which featured the single “Whole Heart.”
