Ambré has built a reputation around a style of R&B that balances relaxed grooves with an engaging quality, thanks to lyrics written with precision and depth that invite repeated attention. Although the New Orleans native remains in high demand for guest contributions, having supplied two tracks to H.E.R.’s Grammy-winning self-titled album among other projects, she has issued her own recordings since making her first appearance in 2014 with a debut single that quickly forged a lasting link to Kehlani. Following a pair of self-released mixtapes, she delivered two EPs through Roc Nation: the 2019 set Pulp, anchored by the breakthrough slow jam “Fubu,” and the subsequent releases 3000° in 2022 and the 2023 EP who’s loving you?, on which she handled production or co-production duties for most of the material.

Self-taught on several instruments and as a producer, Ambré sharpened her skills as both vocalist and songwriter during her upbringing inside New Orleans’ foster care system. After forming a durable partnership with producer Erick Bardales, she entered the scene in 2014 via the single “Faded,” which paved the way for a more active 2015 that included the mixtape Wanderlust, a joint cover of Drake’s “Preach” with Kehlani, and support dates on Kehlani’s tour behind You Should Be Here. Her follow-up tape 2090’s arrived in 2016 alongside the non-album track “No Service in the Hills,” another collaboration with Kehlani. Over the ensuing two years she issued a handful of singles under her own name while adding guest spots to recordings by TOKiMONSTA, Keys N Krates, the Glitch Mob, and Ryan Hemsworth. In 2019 she continued placing outside material, most prominently the songs “U” and “Changes” on H.E.R.’s Grammy-winning self-titled album. Roc Nation signed her that November, timing the announcement with the arrival of Pulp; although contributions from Jean Deaux, BJ the Chicago Kid, and G-Eazy helped raise its profile, the guest-free single “Fubu” generated the strongest response by quickly surpassing one million streams.

A director’s cut of Pulp, additional featured appearances and songwriting for serpentwithfeet, Gallant, Aluna, and Kehlani, placements on the soundtracks and compilations Bruised, Insecure, Reprise: A Roc Nation Album, and Femme It Forward, plus scattered standalone singles, kept her catalog growing from 2020 into the first half of 2022. After completing that range of work, she finished her second Roc Nation project, 3000°, which appeared in June 2022; a ChopNotSlop version mixed by OG Ron C followed in November. In 2023 she issued the five-song EP who’s loving you?, featuring Mack Keane on the track “Elevate.”
