Andy Hui

Born on August 12, 1967, in Hong Kong, Andy Hui first drew notice by finishing as first runner-up at the 1986 New Talent Singing Awards. The placement earned him a recording contract that yielded repeated albums and hit singles in the Cantopop field. His visibility crested near the turn of the century, yet he maintained a regular schedule of new releases even as broader recognition declined. From the early 1990s he also took on acting roles that produced an extensive filmography. In certain periods those lead performances in movies received more attention than his music, especially in later years.
