Anthony Evans blends contemporary R&B, pop, and hip-hop elements with classic gospel traditions to craft songs that fuse spiritual messages with modern sonic textures. His initial releases, including the 2008 project The Bridge, paired vocals steeped in gospel heritage with pop and R&B frameworks, whereas the 2011 effort Home revisited his foundations in traditional gospel. By the time of 2017's Back to Life, more experimental arrangements and production methods aligned more closely with his vocal approach and thematic focus.

As the son of Dr. Tony Evans, founder and pastor of Dallas, Texas' Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and a prominent radio and television host, Anthony Evans launched his Christian music path in 2001 by serving as a background singer for Kirk Franklin. Following several years alongside Franklin, he launched his solo trajectory with the 2004 album Even More, issued via the INO label through Epic. This promising debut reached number 17 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart. Subsequent projects appeared on INO, Integrity, EMI Gospel, and Fair Trade. In early 2012 he expanded his visibility by participating in The Voice on season two of the competition. Although eliminated after the sixth episode, his renditions of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" and Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You" reached fresh listeners and facilitated entry into secular music circles. He later contributed to The Voice as an audition producer. His sixth studio album, Real Life/Real Worship, arrived in April 2014 as his strongest commercial showing to date. Entirely produced by Max Stark, the collection ranged stylistically while maintaining lyrical continuity with prior work, incorporating CCM and contemporary gospel alongside rock and EDM-infused dance-pop, and it debuted at number 60 on the Billboard 200.

In 2017 Evans issued his seventh studio album, the long-awaited Back to Life. Again collaborating with Max Stark, the ten-track release featured the singles "Believe," "See You Again," "Ever Be," and the evocative title track. The productive artist returned in 2018 with Everything Else, another Stark-produced collection addressing challenging questions of life and faith drawn from Evans' own experiences. That year he also released the book Unexpected Places: Thoughts on God, Faith, and Finding Your Voice. Following the somber tone of Everything Else, 2019's Altared adopted a brighter perspective centered on the joy of faith and divine love.
