California native Ashlyn Rae Willson, known professionally as Ashe, creates emotionally charged music that fuses introspective singer/songwriter pop with subtle electronic touches. Her career began in the 2010s with featured vocals on Ben Phipps’ “Sleep Alone” and Shaun Frank’s Juno-nominated “Let You Get Away,” preceding the 2018 release of her first EP, The Rabbit Hole. Wider notice arrived when “Moral of the Story,” drawn from the 2019 project Moral of the Story: Chapter 1, appeared in Netflix’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. Capitalizing on that exposure, she issued her debut full-length, Ashlyn, in 2021, which reached number 18 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. Her second album, Rae, followed in 2022 and included a guest turn by actress Diane Keaton. After an extended break, she resurfaced in 2024 with Wilson, led by the single “Running Out of Time.”

Born in San Jose, Willson began piano study at age six and started composing songs during her teenage years. Post-graduation she briefly enrolled at a local community college before transferring to Berklee in Boston, where she pursued a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. Upon completing her studies she moved to Nashville and secured immediate songwriting and production assignments. Her solo recordings as Ashe, however, drew the interest of Swedish DJ Ben Phipps, resulting in their joint single “Sleep Alone.” The track’s viral success opened doors to further partnerships with artists including Shaun Frank, Whethan, and Louis the Child.

Ashe launched her first official solo single, “Used to It,” in 2017, then followed with The Rabbit Hole EP the next year. In 2019 she delivered two additional EPs, Moral of the Story: Chapter 1 and Moral of the Story: Chapter 2, both produced by Finneas O’Connell. The song “Moral of the Story” climbed to number five on Billboard’s digital charts in February 2020 after its placement in the Netflix series To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.

Mom + Pop issued her debut album, the introspective Ashlyn, in May 2021. It peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Alternative Albums chart, entered the Billboard 200, and matched Moral of the Story: Chapter 1 by reaching number two on the Heatseekers chart. Throughout 2022 she issued several singles, among them the energetic “Angry Woman” and the reflective “Love Is Letting Go,” which featured Diane Keaton. Both tracks appeared on her second Mom + Pop album, Rae, released that October and returning her to the Heatseekers Top Ten.

Although a 2023 tour had been scheduled, Ashe postponed the dates to focus on mental and physical recovery. Following nearly a year away, she resurfaced in June 2024 with “Running Out of Time,” the lead single from her third studio album and first release on her independent imprint, Wilson.
