Ashton Travis, the Houston, Texas rapper linked to Travis Scott, crafts tracks built on bass-heavy production and vocals that often convey personal emotion.
His first attempt to launch a music career dated back to 2011, though real momentum arrived only in 2019. Already on Scott’s Cactus Jack’s roster, he added a Def Jam contract and saw his track “Death Row” featured on the label’s Undisputed compilation that year, which drew wider attention. In 2020 he joined several fellow Cactus Jack’s artists on collaborative cuts, most prominently “Casino” with Chase B. Later that same year Def Jam issued his debut EP, Phoenix Mode.
