Blackstrap

Blackstrap, a shoegaze-inspired quintet based in Stockholm, Sweden, fuses dreamy indie rock guitars with coed vocals and lush washes of sound. Jonatan Westh, serving as frontman, joined organist Maria Lindén to establish the ensemble in 2001; the musicians then spent two years shaping their approach before issuing the debut album Ghost Children in 2003. Additional touring came next, highlighted by an appearance on the national Swedish radio broadcast P3. The group subsequently withdrew to a bunker in Amsterdam, where it captured Steal My Horses and Run, a follow-up collection of atmospheric, fuzzed-out rock & roll recalling the work of My Bloody Valentine and Spiritualized.
