Boyscott weaves wistful, daydreamy indie rock through surfy guitar hooks, shaping tracks from a hazy, lighthearted vantage as soft as ocean breezes. The endeavor originated in college dorm rooms before expanding into an informal collective. Boyscott completed work on their fancifully sketched 2015 debut Goose Bumps without having performed live, then sustained the upbeat, nautical aesthetic across the 2024 album Spellbound.

Scott Hermo, a singer and songwriter, founded Boyscott in 2015 while studying in Nashville to serve as a vehicle for his recording experiments. Working in his dorm, Hermo sometimes recruited friends to develop his soft-edged indie material. Classmates Emma Willer, Tiger Adams, John Lewandowski, and Noah Miller added live energy to the sessions, enabling the five musicians to finish Goose Bumps and issue it independently in late 2015. Academic schedules prevented a fixed roster once live performances began, so Hermo drew on a changing group of friends and players for concerts and tours. Recognition spread naturally through persistent road work and word-of-mouth support for the album. A physical version of Goose Bumps appeared in 2019 via a joint release from Top Shelf Records and Babe City Records. Its most-streamed songs reached tens of millions of plays, introducing the band to broader audiences in both streaming and live settings. Boyscott returned with Spellbound in October of 2024, extending their beachy indie songwriting approach.
