Biography
BRONSON emerged from a partnership uniting the Seattle electronic pair ODESZA with Australian dance music maker Golden Features. Their 2020 self-titled debut arrived darker in tone than either act’s prior work, weaving progressive house, garage, electro-house, and further club styles into a taut, propulsive sound. Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight first crossed paths with Thomas Stell, known as Golden Features, during a 2014 festival appearance in Perth, Australia; the three formed an instant connection and maintained contact, exchanging ideas for joint projects over the years that followed. After an extended period of remote collaboration, ODESZA extended their stay in Australia after 2018 tour commitments there, allowing the group to regroup at a remote farm three hours south of Sydney. An additional weeklong session in Joshua Tree, California, during 2019 enabled BRONSON to complete the album. Ahead of its August 2020 release on Ninja Tune, a limited 12" single of “Bline” appeared, and the full project included contributions from Gallant, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and lau.ra. The record reached number five on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
