Biography
Famed Spanish producer Miguel Angel Arenas originated the concept for Compañia Lirica Popera, intending to merge lyric opera voices with pop melodies. Sopranos Ruth González and Françesca Calero, tenor Ricardo Bernal, and baritone Beltrán Iraburu make up the ensemble. In 2006 the group issued its debut album, Gala Latina, enlisting the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra to reinterpret nine Spanish hits from the 1990s—including “Y So Fuera Ella” and “A Dios le Pido”—together with a previously unreleased song penned by Alejandro Sanz.
