Biography
Swedish melodic metal outfit CyHra came together as a supergroup linked to In Flames, Amaranthe, the Crown, Shining, and Kamelot. The ensemble debuted in 2017 through Letters to Myself, its forceful style blending progressive metal intricacy with metalcore intensity and melodic hard rock sweep, then gained further strength on the follow-up albums No Halos in Hell in 2019 and The Vertigo Trigger in 2023.
Vocalist Jake E, formerly of Amaranthe, and guitarist Jesper Strömblad, ex-In Flames, launched the band, which expanded into a commanding quartet once lead guitarist Euge Valovirta from Shining and drummer Alex Landenburg of Kamelot joined. The single "Karma" surfaced in September 2017, preceding the full-length debut Letters to Myself, issued that October via Spinefarm Records. Their second album, No Halos in Hell, arrived on Nuclear Blast in 2019 and delivered a heavy, dynamic, melody-focused sound. Guitarist Marcus Sunesson, previously with the Crown, was added to the lineup before the third record. Released in 2023, The Vertigo Trigger marked CyHra’s most assertive and somber statement, fusing sharp riffs and crushing grooves with strong melodies and choruses built for anthems.
