Biography
Originating from Montreal, Quebec, low-key electro-pop balladeer Dan Bodan first surfaced inside the city's underground music community before relocating to Berlin, Germany in the mid-2000s. His 2011 debut took the form of Nudity & Atrocity, a self-produced vinyl-only release issued in a limited pressing of 250 copies. The following year he issued two singles, one of which, "Under a Cancer Sky," received a cover version from Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip. Bodan then aligned with the DFA label, resulting in several more singles plus the album Soft. That 2014 collection, an intimate and largely restrained affair recalling the slower material found deep within Junior Boys' catalog, featured production input from Great Skin, Physical Therapy, Ville Haimala, and Stadium—the last of whom DFA described as "an amazing producer/remixer we are not allowed to mention for some reason."
