Biography
Louisville outfit Dead Child came together in 2005 under the leadership of Slint’s David Pajo, channeling the raw power of vintage metal. Their approach merges Black Sabbath’s brooding, heavy riffing with the rapid tempos and agile vocals associated with Judas Priest, yielding songs that evoke the spirit of classic heavy metal in a straightforward manner. Joining Pajo are guitarist Michael McMahan and bassist Todd Cook—both participants in the 2005 Slint reunion—alongside drummer Tony Bailey and singer Dahm. Prior to entering the studio, the band performed their debut composition, “Never Bet the Devil Your Head,” for the Louisville, KY, segment of Brenda Canty’s Burn to Shine series. The self-titled EP appeared on Cold Sweat Records in 2007, followed by the full-length Attack, which surfaced in April 2008 via Quarterstick, an imprint of Touch & Go Records.
