Biography
Death on Wednesday infused their SoCal punk-pop with dark introspection while moving freely between indie rock circles and the Orange County punk scene. The quartet—guitarist/vocalist Nate Lawler, guitarist Jeff Saenz, bassist Kevin Smith, and drummer Jorma Vik—first performed under the name the Redliners and quickly built a loyal following across the Orange County region. Following the name change, the band signed to the SideCho label and cut their debut album. Trever Keith of Face to Face produced Buying the Lie, issued in fall 2000. Three years later the band released Songs To __ To, by which point Matt Rainwater had taken over drumming duties from Vik.
