Biography
Disbelief, a German death metal outfit, came together in 1991 through vocalist Karsten Jäger, guitarist Oliver Lenz, and drummer Markus Gnap. Denis Musiol arrived on guitar and bass in time for the band's first demo the next year. Two more demo recordings led into the self-titled debut album of 1997, by which stage Musiol and Gnap had departed in favor of guitarist Tommy Fritsch, bassist Jochen Trunk, and drummer Kai Bergerin. The follow-up album Infected appeared in 1998. After a brief interval during which Jan-Dirk Löffler took over guitar from Fritsch, Disbelief landed a deal with Massacre Records that yielded Worst Enemy in 2001 and Shine in 2002. Their fifth album, Spreading the Rage, surfaced a couple of years afterward and earned North American distribution through Nuclear Blast, as did the 2005 successor 66Sick that also brought Fritsch back into the group.
