Biography
Formed in 1998, the Canadian Christian rock band Downhere originated with Marc Martel and Jason Germain, who shared living quarters during their Bible College years. Tyson Manning and Jeremy Thiessen came aboard next, leading to the independent release of the group’s self-titled debut album in 1999. Word Records issued an international version of that record in 2001 after partial re-recording and the addition of bassist Glenn Lavender, which preceded the arrival of So Much for Substitutes on the identical imprint in 2003. Centricity Records became their new home in 2006, resulting in the third album Wide-Eyed and Mystified that captured both Juno and Dove honors before Ending Is Beginning appeared in 2008.
