Biography
Hailing from Philadelphia, DRGN King crafts pop laced with psychedelic and electronic touches, drawing from an eclectic array of inspirations that spans Shuggie Otis, the Beatles, and Wu-Tang Clan. What started as a partnership between songwriter Dominic Angelella and hip-hop producer Ritz Reynolds had grown into a four-piece by 2010. The next year brought the EP Holy Ghost and a cover of ? & the Mysterians' 1966 hit "96 Tears." Their first full-length album, Paragraph Nights, arrived on Bar None in 2013. The band issued its second album, Baltimore Crush, the year after—a song cycle focused on Angelella's childhood in the Charm City and largely composed during tours behind Paragraph Nights.
