Biography
An indie pop group originating from New Orleans, Louisiana, Royal Teeth produces buoyant tracks that embody youthful vitality. Singers Gary Larsen and Nora Patterson joined guitarist Stevie Billeaud, bassist Joshua Wells, keyboard player Andrew Poe, and drummer Josh Hefner to create the six-piece lineup; the musicians had previously crossed paths in separate New Orleans ensembles and officially united in 2010. Their uplifting sonic approach led to a first release in 2011, the EP Act Naturally. Dangerbird Records then signed the band, which delivered its debut album Glow in 2013. Popularity of the single "Wild" secured a performance slot on an episode of American Idol. After Poe and Billeaud departed, longtime associate Thomas Onebane stepped in on guitar. Royal Teeth inked a deal with Elektra in 2015 and started tracking material, yet the arrangement ended shortly afterward. The following year brought the Amateurs EP on Round Hill, which reached the Top Heatseekers chart.
