Biography
Manchester dance music duo Duke & Jones fuse house, hip-hop, pop, EDM, and trap into a polished, high-velocity sound that stretches from rumbling bass-driven tracks to spare, melody-focused vocal cuts. Their breakthrough arrived via the 2018 Eclipse EP, after which they issued additional EPs such as 2019’s Paradox and 2020’s Solace. A major viral success followed in 2022 with “Jiggle Jiggle,” built around an Auto-Tuned rap delivered by British filmmaker Louis Theroux.
Luke Conibear and Isaac McKelvey first connected as young teenagers at a New Year’s Eve gathering, where their mutual interest in electronic production became clear. Weekend beat-making sessions soon turned into a formal partnership in 2015, prompting joint enrollment at Manchester’s School of Electronic Music to develop DJ skills. Early releases appeared on netlabels including Riotville, Downright, and Thrive before their debut proper EP, Eclipse, surfaced in 2018 via Circus Records. That same year they performed live for the first time at London’s Ministry of Sound, invited by Zeds Dead after remixing the pair’s “Lights Go Down.” The Canadian duo had already placed Duke & Jones’ “Tusk” on their Deadbeats imprint and would continue to champion further material.
The momentum quickly elevated their profile and attracted remix commissions from high-profile names such as Zedd, Alison Wonderland & Dillon Francis, Louis the Child, Yellow Claw, and Marshmello. Throughout this period the duo maintained a consistent schedule of original output, including the EPs Dystopia (2018), Paradox (2019), and Solace (2020). Their 2022 track “Jiggle Jiggle,” again featuring British journalist and documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux, became a viral sensation. The recording centered on an Auto-Tuned rendering of a rap Theroux had first written and performed on his 2000 television series Weird Weekends—which also wove in elements of Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine”—alongside a refreshed version of the same rap that had appeared on the 2022 web series Chicken Shop Date.
