Biography
Canadian electronic dance producer and DJ Dzeko launched his career as half of the duo Dzeko & Torres. Alongside that partner he put out a consistent flow of singles stretching from the late 2000s through 2016, then stepped out on his own and landed a major success in 2018 via the track “Jackie Chan,” a joint effort with Tiësto, Preme, and Post Malone.
Born Julian Dzeko, the Toronto-based artist delivers a high-impact style of future and progressive house. Together with Luis Torres he put forward one EP, Hey (Dim Mak), in 2012. After the pair parted on good terms, Dzeko dropped his debut solo single “Liberty,” then followed it with further releases such as “Never Gonna Love Me” featuring Sam James and “California” with Brynn Elliot. Rising through festival lineups, he drew the attention of key tastemaker Tiësto, who tapped him for the 2018 radio-friendly dance anthem “Jackie Chan,” also spotlighting rappers Preme and Post Malone. The single quickly gained traction, reaching charts throughout Europe and the U.S. That year he additionally released “Don't Stop” with Liu, “Hypebeat” with Kris Kaiden, and “Might Not Like Me,” another collaboration with Brynn Elliot. Additional material appeared in 2019, among them “Halfway There” with Tiësto and Lena Leon, “The King” with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, and a new version of Kool & the Gang’s “Down on It” alongside DJ D-Sol.
