Born June 1, 1987, in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, Eamonn McCrystal grew into an established Irish pop tenor who also hosts television and radio programs from his base in Los Angeles, California. With classical instruction on piano, voice, and flute, he first reached radio listeners at nine years old as a guest on BBC Radio Ulster’s George Jones Show, and by thirteen he had already released his debut album, After the Storm. Subsequent years found him crisscrossing Ireland with a 15-piece ensemble while issuing two additional studio albums, 2006’s The Search and 2007’s Rest for Your Soul. His first live recording, Eamonn McCrystal Live, appeared in 2009; two years later, after moving to the United States, he issued When in Nashville…, an even split of six covers and six new songs written by external writers. Holiday fare followed in 2013 with the Nigel Wright–produced Music of Christmas & the Stories Behind the Songs, and 2014 brought A Living Prayer, a set pairing reassuring contemporary pieces with classic hymns. The next year yielded the concert film Music of Northern Ireland, captured inside Belfast’s historic Grand Opera House.
