Biography
Electric Callboy, a German electronicore outfit celebrated for its eclectic and danceable style alongside a laid-back, frequently humorous take on post-hardcore, spent ten years performing as Eskimo Callboy prior to adopting its present name in 2021. That same year’s chart-topping sixth album, Tekkno, marked the band’s first release under the new moniker.
Established in 2010 in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, the lineup of Sebastian “Sushi” Biesler on vocals, Kevin Ratajczak handling vocals and keyboards, guitarists Daniel Haniß and Pascal Schillo, bassist Daniel Klossek, and drummer David Friedrich crafts music that balances pulsing grooves with punishing force, merging late-night club energy, explosive breakdowns, and intense screamed vocals. The group’s first recording, a self-titled EP, appeared in 2010, followed by the full-length Bury Me in Vegas in 2012. Their second album, We Are the Mess, reached German and Austrian charts upon its 2014 arrival. The Scene followed in 2017, featuring the singles “M.C. Thunder,” “VIP,” and its title track, which included a guest appearance by Attila’s Chris Fronzak. In 2020 the quartet issued its fourth studio effort, the melody-focused Rehab, which proved to be Sushi’s final recording with the band before his departure to launch Ghostkid.
Shortly afterward the group announced its rename to Electric Callboy out of respect for Alaska’s Inuit and Yupik communities. Nico Sallach, previously of To the Rats and Wolves, stepped in as the new vocalist, and under the Electric Callboy banner the band delivered Tekkno in 2022. The album, its most wide-ranging collection yet, blends hardcore, pop-metal, alternative rock, and synth pop while debuting at number one in Germany and charting across additional European territories.
